The jacket carries Durga’s creation through its construction. When Mahishasura seized the heavens, the devas gathered. Their radiance came together and took the form of Durga. Each placed a weapon in her hands. Durga received their many powers, gave them one direction, and entered the battle on her lion. She met every form Mahishasura assumed and restored order.
Durga within me gathers everything I have learned, received, and earned, then turns it toward what matters.

What could move through you when all your powers choose one purpose?
- Each embroidered panel, built from reclaimed saris, arrives with its own pattern, color, texture, and energy. One holds flowers. Another carries mirrors. Others bring curling vines, geometric lattices, beads, and golden details. Every section remains visible within the whole.
- The red ground carries the energy of action. The mirrors and lattice sets gather light as the devas gathered around Durga.
- Metallic thread, couching, and raised zardozi-style embroidery in antique gold recall the weapons and gifts placed in her hands
- Green, purple, orange, silver, and gold reclaimed panels move across the jacket like distinct powers entering the same story.
- One sleeve carries a long band of white and silver spiral scrollwork; the other is dominated by navy-centered floral medallions ringed in iridescent stones.
- On the back, the many panels gather around a large neckline-shaped ornamental centerpiece built from white beadwork, green leaf forms, and a central floral rosette. It becomes the jacket’s axis, holding abundance in one clear direction.
- A deep crimson lining and matching facing show at the open front and collar; open front, no buttons, closures, or pockets
- Perfectly imperfect. Handle with care Each piece carries traces of its earlier life. You may notice uneven stitching, worn areas, missing beads or variations in the embellishment. We carefully prepare each jacket while preserving the character of the textiles it holds. Older embellishments can be delicate or loose and need gentle handling.
