Murugan also known as Kartikeya, the youthful son of Shiva and Parvati, accepts the task of confronting Surapadman, an asura ruler who has imprisoned celestial beings. Parvati gives him the Vel, a sacred spear carrying her divine power. Murugan takes command, leads the campaign, and brings it to victory. His story asks what we will do with the strength placed in our hands, and whom our courage will serve.
Inspired by Murugan’s courage, this piece celebrates the decision to step forward and put your energy behind something you believe in. Its individual character honours that spirit, carrying the saree’s history into a life that is now yours.

- Handcrafted by a boutique tailor from a pre-loved saree, this one-of-a-kind, 100% silk jacket gives a cherished textile a new life as a longline, lightly tailored blazer, softly slubbed with a quiet, natural sheen
- Fine vertical stripes in stone, sage-grey, and earthy neutrals run along the body and sleeves, suggesting energy gathered towards a purpose
- Pointed lapels cut from a bold printed silk in marigold orange, cream, black, and red lead the design, recalling the focused intention of Murugan's Vel
- That printed silk returns as a large panel on one front, across the lower hem, at the shoulders, and in the sleeves, its red accents marking the impulse to act, its curves and angular forms adding movement as you turn
- No two panels sit alike: lapels, fronts, and sleeves are deliberately uneven, with the saree's motifs cut and turned wherever the design was worth keeping
