On a moonlit night beside the Yamuna, Krishna’s flute called the gopis of Vrindavan into Raas. They joined arms and formed a circle. Krishna appeared between every pair, allowing each dancer to experience him beside her. In a gathering of many, his presence reached every person. The circle moved through music, rhythm, and joy.
Krishna within me helps me enter every room with attention, create belonging, and let each person know they matter.
The jacket invites its wearer to enter every gathering with Krishna’s Presence: connected to the whole and attentive to each person within it.
Who feels seen when you enter the circle?
- The jacket carries this story through the visual language of celebration, with 14 reclaimed sari textile panels in wine, burgundy, aubergine, plum, magenta, and fuchsia are pieced together.
- Its embroidered patchwork recalls the richly decorated clothing worn for Garba, where communities gather and move in circles. Each panel has its own colour, motif, texture, and light, like an individual dancer entering the Raas. Together, the panels create one flowing garment.
- The mirrors set throughout the panels hold the experience of seeing and being seen.
- Gold metallic embroidery, couching, and raised metallic work travel across the deep purple ground like the sound of Krishna’s flute through the night.
- A large neckline-shaped ornamental panel anchors the upper back, densely worked in teal paisley, mint, and cream florals with metallic outlining.
- Jewel-bright flowers built from red glass cabochons, amber teardrop stones, dense seed and bugle beadwork, and round gold medallions on the upper left front appear across the front, sleeves, and back, carrying the movement of a circle alive with rhythm.
- The jacket features an open front with no buttons, closures or pockets. No two sleeves match and even the collar is split between two different reclaimed fragments.
- Perfectly imperfect. Handle with care Each piece carries traces of its earlier life. You may notice uneven stitching, worn areas, missing beads or variations in the embellishment. We carefully prepare each jacket while preserving the character of the textiles it holds. Older embellishments can be delicate or loose and need gentle handling.
